New Website Requirements

Every new website requires information from the website owner(s).

Delays in developing your website can take longer if insufficient information is provided to the website designer.

In general, be prepared to address questions about:

  • Website content.
  • Images and photos.
  • Company branding and logos.
  • Multimedia such as music MP3s, video files, PowerPoint presentations, etc. (if applicable)
  • Website ownership – who manages and controls the domain name.
  • Website hosting – where the site will be hosted and served out to visitors.

Web Page Content

Who will supply or write the website content for your website?

Contact us if you require content development services.

Content should be provided in the following format:

  1. Title or page name
  2. Content
  3. Images related to the content
  4. Keywords relevant and related to the web page content.

Recommended content length per web page: 400 words minimum.

Creatives: Images, Photos and Graphics

Have all your photos, images and graphic ready. The more information the web developer/designer has about your website, the better idea they will have about the visual image you are trying to present.

You can:

  • send creative by email individually
  • upload them online

Photoshop Files

You may have already developed custom graphics with another developer, if possible send Photoshop files (.PSD) by email as well.

Company Logo

Send your corporate or business logo in Photoshop or Vector format.

Company Color Scheme

If you current business card, flyers or brochures are in green and red, please specify the color scheme you wish to work with.

 

Music MP3s and Videos

If you have a number on music MP3 or custom videos, please do let us know beforehand.

Depending on the number of files, we may need to make adjustments to your web hosting services.

In general, if you plan to serve out large video files (2 minutes and above) and plan to have a number of website users viewing the video, we can set up an inexpensive ‘cloud hosting’ solution so that videos are properly viewed by your site visitors.

If you currently have video or MP3 hosting set up, please send us the login information to access the account.

Website Functionality

What extra special do you want your website to do?

In most cases this is custom work and requires additional attention.

Examples would include: e-commerce shopping cart, private members forum, lead generation forms, 3rd party email newsletters, etc.

Have ready any additional 3rd party services that you may have already subscribed to to integrate in to your own website.

Domain Name(s)

If you do not have a domain name registered, we can register a new domain name on your behalf.

To make adjustments to your domain name record, we will need your domain registrar login information

  1. Domain registration company
  2. Username and password for login

If you would like for us to register a domain name on your behalf, we will require the following information:

  1. Your name or business name
  2. Contact person
  3. Home or business mailing address (address, city, state/province, zip/postal code)
  4. Contact phone number
  5. FAX number (if applicable)

Website Hosting

We are able to provide website hosting on web servers in USA and Canada.

We prefer to have .CA domain names hosted on Canadian web hosting for search engine relevancy.

If you currently have web hosting set up, please provide us with the following information:

  1. Website Control Panel login information (username and password)
  2. FTP account information: FTP server, username and password
