Dreamweaver Setup
The following are simple settings for managing your own website with Dreamweaver.
In your welcome letter for domain name and website hosting, you will receive the following information:
| Domain: your-domain-name.com | Ip: 12.345.678.90 | UserName: unique-username | PassWord: CaSe-SenSiTive-PassWord
Based on the above information, we can go ahead and set up a ‘New Site’ profile in Dreamweaver.
Please note: the following screenshots are based on Dreamweaver8 (Newer versions will look similar)
Step 1: Create a New Site
From the navigation menu, select ‘Site’ and ‘New Site’

In the website definition, enter the following information:
- Click Advanced
- Enter your website name
- Select a folder on your computer where all website files will be located
- Select a default image folder where all images for the website will be located. Keep the images in the same folder as your local root folder, do not select ‘My Photos’ or a folder outside the local root folder.

Step 2: Set up connection to web hosting server
In this step, we will enter information about your website hosting details.
This will allow you to connect remotely to your server online.
- Click ‘Remote Info’
- Select ‘FTP’ form the Access method

Step 3: Enter Remote/Web Hosting Details
From your welcome letter, enter the following
- FTP Host: Your IP address or domain name (IP address preferred)
- Host Directory: public_html (this is the folder where all files will be visible online!)
- Login information
- Case Sensitive Password

Step 4: Test
If all information is correct, click on ‘Test’ to get the following message
